Venus: Part 8

I shake away the entire interaction with Zelly instead of dwelling on it. Lion and I converse for some time before he begins to yawn and retreat to his box bed. We end our conversation with saying, “Goodnight.” but I am still not tired in the slightest. I lift myself into my hammock anyways and attempt to find a comfortable position in the wobbly bed of mine. Within only seconds, I can already hear Lion snoring again. I peek my head out and look in his direction. Lion seems like a completely different cat when he’s asleep compared to when he’s cavorting around the store with his favorite toy.

Remembering the entertaining time I had spent with Lion today makes me begin to miss my brothers. I miss all of my siblings of course, but my two brothers were the ones I would spend the most time frolicking with. We would always scheme up some crazy plan to terrorize my prissy sisters. Usually, I’m the distraction and my brothers are the ones who would tackle down the girls. I jump into it after everyone is riled up, only so I won’t have to take any blame for “starting it”.

I find myself staring off into the bedding of cedar chip, smiling as I commemorate the delightful times spent with my brothers. I’m confident that regardless of if I have my brothers around or not, I will create many more fun memories worth looking back on.

I snap from my thoughts and curiously look around at the other tanks. Everything is mostly still, aside from the little guys submerged in water. I haven't noticed them sleep or even close their eyes for since I’ve arrived. Though, I can’t say that I’ve been paying too much attention to them either. I watch them aimlessly bounce around their tank. It’s nearly impossible to watch any single one when there are so many of them crowded together. What could they even be? They surely can’t be mammals.

I turn my attention to another tank with bright red lighting. The animal occupying the tank looks to be asleep. I squint my eyes to get a better look until I notice that the animal isn’t actually sleeping at all. They seem so be moving painfully slow across a thick branch with lots of greens surrounding it. I watch with anticipation as it gradually picks up its front right leg and left back leg, then switches to left front leg and right back leg. It feels as though time itself has slowed down to fit the creatures movements. I want to see what the little animal is trying to approach but it becomes far too tiring to watch.

I switch my eyes over to a set of tanks. I make out what looks to be plastic dome houses within all of the glass homes. I don’t see much movement, the only creatures I can see all the way from my abode look like balls of fluff bundled together. There are so many different possibilities as to what type of animal they may be.

Expeditiously, I lose interest when I start to notice the blackness in the sky has steadily turned into a dark faded blue. Morning is approaching. I grow excited thinking about having another opportunity of going to a hopefully, loving home. I slink out of my hammock and make my way to the side of my cage closest to the windows. Still, no sign of human dude’s vehicle. I watch as many other vehicles varying in sizes speed by. I rest my body onto the wood chips and continue to lazily watch the tracing lights. Like a trance, it surprisingly causes me to slip into an episode of deep euphoric sleep.

Unexpectedly, I wake up to human dude gently pulling me out of my cage. “It’s time that you’ve had a good bath.” Human dude addresses calmly. I gulp and feel the dread setting in. I would normally fight against this but under the circumstances of how entirely tired I am, I decide against it. We walk by the over-sized tank with the red lighting and I notice the sluggish creature has made it to the other side of the tank, finally. I hear the the violent noise of the bath water and my body begins to forget about being tired and I make an attempt to escape human dude’s grasp but he doesn’t let me go so easily. He plops me into the tub, there’s no going back now..

I'm sorry it's kind of shorter than the usual, but I really hope you enjoyed.
I've been debating whether or not I should give colored descriptions because I understand that ferrets can't really see in color, but I really want everyone to be able to have a vivid image of what's going on. Also, it's difficult to give relevant characteristics without throwing colors out there.
Thank you so much for reading!  (✿╹◡╹)ノ💞
